Dispersal of White Park herd at Melton Native Breeds Sale on 14 September

The annual Melton Native Breeds Show and Sale, organised by Grassroots Systems Ltd, is taking place this year on Saturday 14 September at Melton Mowbray Livestock Market.  This is not an official WPCS pedigree sale and there will be no White Park show.

This year’s sale will include the dispersal of the Manx herd of White Park cattle that will have travelled from the Isle of Man.  Owner Paul Davis has said about his cattle “They all are quiet and our two bulls are docile and well-behaved.”

The dispersal of the Manx herd will comprise:

11 cows (some with calves at foot) – all have been running with Manx Cosmopolis

2 senior heifers

7 heifers born in 2018

2 bulls

Heathylee Gladiator is a Pass Plus Bull.   Manx Cosmopolis is not registered but he will undergo a preliminary assessment prior to the sale, for the possibility of him eventually passing for registration.

Some of the Manx Herd “foundation cows” are from the Collegewood herd and were bred by John Barker.

The full catalogue can be downloaded from the Grassroots site here. Please click on the second grey bar and then select White Park.

Our President Lawrence Alderson will be present at the sale to offer kinship advice to prospective purchasers.  If you want any information on the Manx herd prior to the sale please get in touch with the White Park Cattle Breed Society Secretary, Jane Hampson.
